Feng Shui at Keystone Lake

Feng Shui (Pronounced “fong-shway”) is an Eastern philosophy developed over 5,000 years ago as a system of how to survive and excel in harmony with nature, Feng Shui theories came from logical assumptions about natural causes and effects that endured through time. Passed down from generation to generation only a select few understand the phenomenon of Feng Shui in its entirety. The complexity and correct application of Feng Shui takes many years to learn from a master. The ideas presented here offer some of the basic concepts that explain the principles of Feng Shui.

FLORA AND FAUNA

“Always bring elements of the natural world, such as plants and flowers, into an indoor space.”  Be sure to keep the flowers’ water clean, through, Stagnant energy from dirty water leads to an unhealthy environment.  Spider plants and peace lilies are both on the NASA list of plants that are good for removing indoor pollutants.  Placing plants near office equipment, like printers, faxes and photocopiers, help radiate harmful emissions.

NEUTRAL COLORS

All of Keystone Lake’s master suites have neutral background shades of white and beige for a restful, calm feeling.  The mood of any home can be changed with dramatic accents, like peach, orange and red throw pillows or flowers.

LIGHTING YOUR WAY

We have a balance of different types of lights in each room. However, by adding supplement lighting make sure you use smaller lamps and open blinds to let in natural light.  Even if you’re not using the room, natural light helps stimulate the area’s energy. Also, include candlelight, which creates a softened atmosphere.

GATEWAYS

Each home is designed with its own front door. “Your front door is the most important gateway to your home because it is here that energy finds a way in.  Be sure that your front door can open fully, without obstruction Also, keep the area around the door in good repair. “Whatever object the energy flows around will impregnate it and affect its quality.  It’s very important the energy not come in contact with dirt and dust. “Make sure your hall is clean and fresh, and the energy will then remain strong and vital.” The center of all Keystone Lake’s floor plans are “open” in keeping with Feng Shui philosophy.

BUST CLUTTER

Clutter is a major stressor in any home. Clutter is anything that makes you feel depressed or sad when you look at it or think about it. Things that fall into this category are items not regularly used, items not loved and cherished, things stored or left in the wrong place, half-finished projects, possessions stored in too small an area, broken objects, or unwanted gifts. “If you live in a chaotic space, or one that is extremely cluttered, it represents a lifestyle that may be confused, lethargic and lacking in energy.  “An overcrowded  environment will drain your vitality and make it difficult for positive energy to flow around your home.  Clear away the clutter in your home and find creative and organized ways to store your remaining possessions. Cluttering objects also include furniture, so make sure each room has an appropriate amount of furniture in it. Also, never leave anything that’s broken, Instead, fix it on the spot.

CLUTTERING COLORS

Clutter doesn’t just exist in the objects one owns. Too many colors of the wrong colors create a cluttered room. “Take care not to bring too many colors into a room since this can confuse the energy and end up being too stimulating, the same principles goes for patterns and designs.”  Dark, heavy colors like black, brown or burgundy, can slow down energy. Lighter colors like white and cream reflect light and create movement.

PICTURES OF YOU

“Our homes are full of symbols and metaphors, and very often we choose them without thinking about them consciously.  When choosing the symbols in your master suite, select images that reflect something you enjoy or an aspect of the life you want to have. This is especially important when the picture takes a prominent position in your home.

SLEEPING SECURELY

Turn your bedroom into a secure haven of rest. Invest in a good headboard, footboard or other piece of furniture like a chest or bench running the width of the base of the bed, will contain your energy while you sleep. We have purposely placed the TV outlets on the opposite wall from where your headboard should be located and have placed the phone outlet on the wall where your headboard will be. You will have a view of the door from your bed.  Use untreated cotton linens and bedspreads and invest in a quality mattress. Also, open the oversized windows every day to air out the room and keep it fresh.

EATING WELL

Use your dining room for just that—dining. “A familiar place to eat every day, which is always used for dining and not routinely taken over as a desk, helps foster a healthy attitude toward food and eating.” A large dining table, with well-laid out place settings helps ensure a positive eating environment. Stick to a wood table- glass tabletops are distracting. Adorn the table with candles for mood and brightly colored flowers, like red and orange, which help stimulate conversation.  Keep the artificial lighting over the table low, but bright enough for people to see as they eat. Keep bowls of fresh fruits and nuts on hand, which makes it easier for people to eat healthfully between meals.

SPACIOUS

Our first floor secondary bedroom wings feel more spacious because our usual 3’6” wide hallways are 10% wider than the industry standard.

KITCHEN WALL CABINETS

We have purposely lowered all of our kitchen wall cabinets from the industry standard for easier reach.

WATER, WOOD, FIRE, EARTH, METAL

Ancient Chinese believe one’s fortune is affected by the balance of five elements. WATER, WOOD, FIRE, EARTH & METAL.  They believe everything in the universe is composed of these elements. These elements can be generative. Metal which can be melted to flow like water which is needed to sustain growing wood which burns, creating fire which leaves ash or earth from which is obtained metal.

They can also be destructive: metal cuts down wood which draws goodness from EARTH, EARTH pollutes water which extinguishes FIRE and FIRE melts metal.

We have purposely developed all Keystone Lakes buildings around WATER. We have also placed all your living room TV outlets based upon which wall your sofa would have the best view overlooking WATER.
